This is quite a tricky one if you’re just starting but it is a good one to learn as it forms the basis for many others later in this series.
The user must maintain a balance by neither falling forwards nor backwards, this can be difficult but you will improve with practice.
Once you have mastered this position you will be able to remain upright for as long as you want, although don’t over do it as it can become painful after long periods of time.
It is particularly handy and can be used at many times throughout your daily routine and whilst enjoying social hours. Tasks requiring a reach of above waist height are best produced when applying this position.
Make sure you are fully confident in using this position before you attempt it support-free. Accidents could cause injury, which would seriously affect your progress.
First time standees should expect around a year and a half of practice before complete independence is achieved.
