After all this positional exploration its about time for a rest. The calm before the storm I should add, so don’t rest on your laurels. This is lying down and it’s a very pleasant position that many believe they can’t find enough time for. It’s easy to perform and can be sustained for many hours at a time. It’s one of very few positions that can competently be employed both conscious and unconscious. The proper precautions should be taken if transferring to the unconscious while lying down, as the position has been known to exceed intended time frames.
Lying down is actually quite a broad position encompassing many variants, some of these we will explore in greater depth later in this series. It is possible to lie down on ones back or ones side, even ones front although this can be uncomfortable and affect breathing. Our illustration shows Lozenge attempting a rather complicated variant by bending his knees and supporting his head with his hands. It doesn’t need to be this exotic, although for comfort a padded head support is advised, in the absence of support we have shown how the hands can be used.
Getting into and out of this position is a whole world of opportunity, there are many ways you can go about it. It is best to leave you to experiment with this rather than dictate a prime technique. Whatever methods you choose, you are likely to use most of your limbs, and give the whole body a good flexing. This is a great position, and one of my own personal favourites. It is recommended that you lie down at least once in every 24 hour period, although the duration is easily variable and entirely up to you.
